BRITISH SALT BOILER HOUSE SUPER STRUCTURE

Description

Haywood & Jackson were awarded the tender of undertaking the construction of a new Boiler House for Tata Chemicals British Salt at their Middlewich site. The initial outer frame of the superstructure was already designed and built for Haywood & Jackson to manufacture and install all the secondary steelwork, along with the ducting for the new Boiler system.

Scope of Work

  • Design the connection details of the secondary steelwork
  • Manufacture of the secondary steelwork for the building and the boilers ducting system
  • Project management of the site installation of all the secondary steelwork & the new boiler ducting system

The first stage of the project involved liaising closely with Gravitate Engineering Consultants to produce the connection details for all the secondary steels.

Once this had been complete, Haywood & Jackson fabricated all the necessary supports, landings, walkways & handrails in preparation for the onsite installation.

Before the steels could be installed, the Boilers were lifted and placed into position. This then meant Haywood & Jackson had to plan and safely manage the access restraints for the crane contractors on-site lifting the steelwork.

Once all the steelwork was successfully installed, the remaining duct work for the Boiler system was fabricated at Haywood & Jacksons workshop, transported to site and installed.
